Forward Bender Stretch, hamstrings, Achilles tendons, and calf muscles.
Scroll down and watch the forward bend intensify as she moves the pole into the farther grooves. When you grasp the pole, the Forward Bender helps you extend equally on the right and left sides. As your hamstrings stretch, you move the pole into the next set of grooves. (Please note that you will not be able to reach the pole unless you can already reach your feet. The Forward Bender will help already-flexible people stretch way beyond habitual limits.) The Forward Bender has a slanted foot piece so your heels stretch beyond the balls of your feet. This intensifies the stretch in your calf muscles. You can see the slant in the photo at right. By extending your torso, our Forward Bender counteracts the tendency to collapse your chest as you bend forward. It can be used in both one- and two-legged forward bends. |
